Dolma: It is released in the year of 1974 to cultivate at medium to high altitude. Its grain is hull-less having high protein. It is resistant to yellow rust disease of Barley.
VLB-1: It is released in the year of 1984 for the commercial cultivation in the hills. It is a 6-Row type barley with hulled grain. It is resistant to yellow rust and tolerant to stripe disease of Barley.
Besides this VLB – 5, and H.P. ate also introduced in Sikkim for commercial cultivation of Barley. Following varieties are also suitable for hilly region:-
Kailash (LBS – 2): It is released in 1971 for successful cultivation of Barley at medium to low elevation. It is good for timely sowing and rainfed condition. It is resistant to yellow rust disease of Barley.
