Varieties available for the cultivation to the farmer in Sikkim are local Kalo Dal, Local Panheli Dal, T-9, Gwalior-2, Ujjain-4 and W.B.-17 Paheli dal is more commonly cultivated and sales at higher price than Kalo dal in Sikkim.
A large number of varieties cultivated in different parts of India. Of which few varieties have been selected for cultivation in Sikkim. The improved short duration varieties recommended for Sikkim are:
