Weed Management
Weed Management:
Pea crop suffers a lot from weed growth at early stages.. This may be due to wider spacing given for hand picking of green pods or for slow growth of pea during early stage. Later the crop smother the weed growth by covering the ground. Generally 2 to 3 weedings are necessary to keep the field free from weeds. Manual weeding is better than mechanical weeding as it may damage the root system. Weeding at later stages is avoided as it may also damage the crop by trumping and mechanical breakage of tender and succulent stems and branches.
