The crop should be harvested early in the morning when 75-85 per cent siliqua have turned golden yellow in colour. Amongst the types ‘toria’ is the earliest maturing variety that takes about 75-90 days time, ‘Rai’ needs 110-180 days, Yellow sarson 130-160 days and Brown sarson needs 105-145 days for maturity. The crop is harvesting with hand-sickles.
Yield
The average yield from a good crop can go up to 18-20 q/ha.
