Nutrient Management
Organic nutrient management
Turmeric needs heavy manuring. Application of well-decomposed farmyard manure (FYM) or compost @ 15-20 t/ha along with 250 kg neem cake and 150 kg/ha rock phosphate or vermicompost @ 10 t/ha is recommended through broadcasting and ploughing at the time of land preparation or as basal dressing by spreading over the beds or into the pits at the time of planting (Reza, S. K. 2014. Pers. Communication). Integrated application of FYM @ 10 t/ha and
vermicompost @ 5 t/ha along with 250 kg neem cake and 150 kg rock phosphate/ha is the best option for sustainable turmeric production. Organic manure can also be applied along with bio-fertilizers like Azospirillum and Bacillus
(Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria) for better nutrition to the crop.
