Soil Requirement
Ginger is grown in terraces as well as on hill slopes in Sikkim. Soil rich in organic matter and light in texture is selected by the farmers for its cultivation. Such type of soil only produces a good crop but also increases the size of rhizomes and its appearance and texture. Soils heavy in texture and poor in drainage are not preferred.
