Harvesting

Harvesting and Yield 

Harvesting is done mostly from November to January. The crop is ready for harvesting when the green leafy pseudo stem turns yellow and wither. It is dug carefully with a spade taking care not to bruise or break the fingers. The rhizomes can be stored at 13c temperature and 67% relative humidity, for 10 months. The soil of most of the ginger growing area of Sikkim offer the required temperature
