Seed Certification in Wheat

I. Application and Amplification of General Seed Certification Standards
The General Seed Certification Standards are basic, and together with the following specific standards constitute the standards for certification of wheat seed.

II. Land Requirements
Land to be used for seed production of wheat shall be free of volunteer plants.

III. Field inspection
A minimum of three field inspections shall be made, the first during pre-flowering stage, the second during flowering and the third at maturity before harvesting. IV. Field Standards

A. General Requirements

1. Isolation
Black-gram or urd seed fields shall be isolated from the contaminants shown in column 1 of the Table below by the distances specified in column 2 and 3 of the said Table.

Notes :

  1. Maximum permitted at any inspection conducted at and after flowering in the case of types and at the final inspection in the case of objectionable weeds.
  2. The weed species designated as objectionable weed in wheat seed crop shall be Hirankhuri (Conooloulus arvensis).
