Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region is a Central Sector scheme started by Sikkim State during 2016-17. Sikkim Organic Farming Development Agency (SOFDA) under Agriculture Department is the State Lead Agency for implementation of the scheme.
Under Phase-I of scheme Sikkim State has covered an area 14500 hectare covering 27724 beneficiaries. 28 nos. of Farmers Producer Organization (FPOs) has also been promoted across the State under the phase-I.
Under phase –III of the scheme 28 nos. of more FPOs are under promotion and till date 16 nos. FPOs have already been registered and rest under progress. As of date the total area coverage of identified crops like Ginger, Turmeric, Large Cardamom, Pea and Sikkim Mandarin under ongoing Phase-III scheme is plus 6000 hectare benefiting plus 12000 nos. of beneficiaries.
